While the known tactile systems quickly reach their limits, as they are limited, for example, by the probe diameter, the CORE optical sensor allows them to be detected and measured.
Yes, optics also have certain disadvantages, but these have been largely eliminated through the use of modern technologies. This means that the components do not have to be pretreated by spraying with chalk spray, which leads to higher measurement accuracy, as no material is applied. Where probe spheres cause a filter effect due to their size, optics can measure points and even the smallest radii with a light point of 40 µm. Where tactile measurement is still essential, the WM | HS hybrid sensor from WENZEL is used, which combines optical and tactile advantages without much loss of time.
Measurement of reflecting surfaces
The unique white light sensor of the CORE from WENZEL is operated using a specially developed process that allows even highly reflective surfaces to be measured. This method minimizes reflections caused by the opposite flanks. The actual light point can therefore be measured stably. In other optical measurement methods, this effect can lead to incorrect measurements.
Detection of points in areas that are difficult to access visually
The visual accessibility of the Christmas tree feet and the small radii on the shovel are often a problem. The individual flanks cause shading, which makes it possible to completely capture the foot only when taking into account a particular measurement strategy. When measured with CORE, the profile is scanned twice, each with a different direction. The two scans are then combined. This makes it visually possible to capture hard-to-reach areas and the smallest radii with a high point density.
WENZEL's CORE product range is an excellent system that makes it possible to record the quality of a component directly in production. All of this is underlined by a stable and reliably reproducible measurement on a wide variety of surfaces.
