Future-proof quality assurance and cost efficiency

For this reason, Jintongling decided to work with WENZEL to upgrade the existing WENZEL LH Gantry coordinate measuring machine (built in 2015). WENZEL not only has an excellent reputation for its technological solutions, but also for its outstanding service in the area of machine upgrades and modifications. The aim was to make the existing system future-proof and meet increasing demands for precision and flexibility.

WENZEL's professional team carried out a comprehensive inspection of the original measurement system. “We not only tested the core components, but also carried out a detailed performance evaluation to find the optimal solution for Jintongling,” reports a WENZEL technician. After intensive technical coordination, a tailor-made modernization plan was developed. The main modification was to convert the original bridge CMM into a portal CMM to ensure higher measurement accuracy and stability. In addition, the measurement range was extended from the original 2 m to 2.5 m in the X-axis and from 1.5 m to 2.8 m in height. Thanks to the underground construction, the load capacity has also been significantly increased — a decisive advantage for the large-format measurement requirements in the fluid technology and wind power industries.

In addition to improved workpiece absorption and load capacity, the extended inspection function is particularly noteworthy. The modernized CMG now also makes it possible to inspect gears, which enables Jintongling to measure large gearboxes for wind turbines with high precision. “With this solution, we can not only meet the increasing demands of the market, but also gain a competitive advantage,” says a Jintongling representative.

Another advantage: By upgrading the existing machine instead of buying a new one, Jintongling was able to save considerable costs. “We have received advanced measurement technology without having to purchase a completely new machine — an economically viable decision,” the company emphasizes.
