5-axis measurements expand inspection capacities

Starting with a used measuring machine and a WENZEL LH 87 KMG in 2010, K&G Manufacturing has been a loyal WENZEL customer for a long time. Over time, however, requirements changed and investment in increased productivity became necessary. The next step was therefore essential. K&G Manufacturing therefore commissioned the first 5-axis REVO probe from Renishaw in combination with a WENZEL LH 1210. This machine expanded inspection options through its larger measurement volume and the flexibility that only the REVO 5-axis probe can offer.

But as is often the case, customer demand continued to grow and enabled K&G to acquire a second LH with REVO in 2021. Driven by the high demand for a special customer component, the need for this machine was proven through time studies. These showed the significant increase in productivity that a second measurement system could bring, while at the same time providing capacity for future requirements.

“By saving considerable time, we were able to optimize our measurement process using modern methods. The inspection of the so-called 'fin' blade in particular shows the significant throughput advantage offered by WENZEL's new coordinate measuring machine. The REVO enables significantly faster inspection compared to any other probe configuration available on the market,” explains Brad Holloway, senior account manager at K&G.
