Die Finke Group, an established mold making company specializing in injection molding manufacturing, has successfully integrated an LH 1512 coordinate measuring machine from WENZEL into its manufacturing processes. The measurement solution has made a significant contribution to ensuring the manufacturing quality and dimensional accuracy of their products.
The Finke Group manufactures a wide range of parts that are used in various end products. The parts manufactured include injection molding tools, gauges, removal grippers, and assembly devices. These are used for a wide range of applications, from individual tools to complex GID articles as well as cube tools in the embossing process. The size of the tools ranges up to 2,800 × 1,500 mm with a total weight of 30 tons.
By using the WENZEL measuring system, in particular the LH 1512 coordinate measuring machine, the Finke Group can precisely check the quality of its tools and articles. This enables accurate measurement in accordance with the required specifications and effective support when tool changes are made. The component measurement is used to verify the specification, to determine distortions and to carry out series-related measurements during plastics production.
The main task is to ensure the dimensional accuracy of the plastic articles produced. This includes measurements for initial sample test reports, measurements during production and ensuring machining. Before the WENZEL measurement system was introduced, a joint measuring arm was used. However, this was no longer accepted by customers due to its inadequate accuracy. The required measurement accuracies are based on the specific requirements of customers with regard to SPC measurement tests (“Statistical Process Control”). The WENZEL CMG (coordinate measuring machine) provides the required accuracy to meet these requirements.
The Finke Group uses the WENZEL-KMG LH 1512 in combination with a PH 10M Plus rotary swivel head and a tactile SP25M probe system from Renishaw. For optical measurement, the highly flexible WENZEL SHAPETRACER 3D line scanner is used to capture and process point clouds in order to effectively complete the measurement tasks.
This multi-sensor solution provides a wide coverage of measurement requirements with high accuracy in accordance with specifications. The measurement systems are located in a specially equipped measurement room near the production plant. This enables measurements to be carried out efficiently and promptly during the manufacturing process. ”
